Abstract
We live in an age of polarized politics and partisan division. But what are the potential foundations of those divisions? Taking research from two leading scholars (Jonathan Haidt & Ronnie Janoff-Bulman), a recent Catawba-YouGov Survey asked North Carolinians about their ‘societal principles’ and the levels of relevance to how they view politics and government. Come see how North Carolinians—on different sides of the ideological and partisan spectrum—view fundamental values and beliefs in distinctive ways, and potentially how to understand where ‘each side’ is coming from in this faculty colloquium.
